Tour Overview

India's southernmost state of Tamil Nadu is famous for its huge temples and cultural treasures. There are more temples than anywhere else, with colorfully decorated towers. The temples are living, sacred places where brahmans perform their rituals and Hindus kneel in front of the altar while a temple elephant watches over the entrance. You will visit the seaside village of Mahabalipuram, French-influenced Pondicherry, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tanjavur and finally the temple city of Madurai.

Day 1: Pick-up from Chennai Airport and drive to Mahabalipuram (56 km, 2 hours)

Day 2: Sightseeing Mahabalipuram 

Day 3: Drive to Pondicherry (105 km, 2 hours)

Day 4: Drive to Tanjavur (180 km, 5 hours)

Day 5: Sightseeing Tanjavur

Day 6: Drive to Tiruchi (60 km, 1 hour)

Day 7: Drive to Madurai (150 km, 4 hours)
